Jeremy’s rough guide to diamonds
The main diamond shapes used for engagement solitaire are, Round, Emerald cut, a rectangular shape with cut corners and Marquise cut a pointed oval shape. Carat is a measure of the weight of a diamond. A Carat is often confused with size even though it is actually a measure of weight. One carat weighs around 200 milligrams. This can also be shown as carat “points” 100 = 1 carat for instance a 0.50pt diamond ½ carat. If you cannot see the size of diamond you want on our website please contact the store.
Clarity of a diamond refers to the presence of inclusions or imperfections in a diamond. Every diamond mined is unique and have varying natural flaws to the eye may look like tiny clouds or even a black spec. There are very few flawless diamonds and they have a high value. All diamonds used by Jeremy Hoye are chosen by him with great care to find great looking stones that are good value, they can either be certificated or not, there is a premium on certificated stones that is not always reflected in the look.
Colour, diamonds come in every colour from white through to black, with white being the most popular and rare yellows being the most valuable. Jeremy has seen an increased demand for black diamond solitaire as featured in his Tulip collection
Settings, how the diamond is held. All of our solitaire settings are have been designed to hold and accentuate the beauty of the stone as well as have there own unique design. Jeremy also incorporates Pave setting, tiny diamonds embedded into the metal side by side for dramatic effect as seen in the surreal Triffid
